Eleven months ago, Ehud Garcia immersed himself in full time ministry with DIA. Each and every month of his ministry has been presented with a constant demonstration of God's surprises. At the time of this posting, we are praying that the Lord will raise men and women who would like to join us in this important work in His Kingdom. Still a "one man show," our ministry is slowly, but steadily taking shape: it is gratifying to see how far have we gone in just a few months. We pray that His name be glorified in every single opportunity we have for service both locally and around the world. In the past year, Ehud has been to Russia twice, to Brazil and to Mozambique. Now, we are establishing a one year certificate here in Lewiston, Idaho, open to all who are interested in learning more about what God is doing through His Church; but, mostly to those who are already preparing themselves for the missionary work, be it short or long term mission. You will find in this page an introduction of the program the description of the courses independently. Time in Brazil. Ehud spent five weeks in Brazil, from October 16 through November 21, 2006, exploring the possibilities of ministry in his home land. It was a most profitable trip. He made important contacts with key Evangelical leaders in the country, having traveled to five different states. He spoke at five churches and had the privilege of meeting with a group of dynamic pastors in Goiânia. Most of his questions about the present missionary options in Brazil have been answered and will be of great help as he continues to establish the tone for his short to long term plans to serve in Brazil. Among the several places he visited, Ehud had the privilege of visiting Itabira, in his home State of Minas Gerais (picture). Itabira has one of the largest Iron mines in the country and it is the hometown of one of Brazil's greatest poets, Carlos Drummond de Andrade. Time in Russia. From January through the end of March, 2007, Ehud served in Siberia, at the Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church and the Tyumen Bible College, in the beautiful city of Tyumen, Russia. It was a special time of ministry. During that time, Ehud experienced the daily life in a mild winter season. Many of the members of the Church told him that they had not had such a warm winter in many years. It was an uplifting time of ministry indeed. Along with that, Ehud also had the opportunity to learn more about exciting options for theological education in Siberia. There is a growing need for leadership training within the Protestant churches in Russia; and the Tyumen Bible College is in a unique position to serve in that capacity. Keep TBC in your prayer so that the Lord will raise the personnel and the means for a new emphasis of ministry that will reach not only Tyumen but the entire region of West and North Siberia. Time in Mozambique. This opportunity for ministry came as a total (and pleasant) surprise! "I was in the middle of ministry in Siberia," Ehud says, "and I got this e-mail from the South American Theological Seminary in Brazil, inviting me to teach at a new Graduate Program in Maputo, Mozambique. Of course I accepted the invitation. For a number of years, I have prayed that the Lord would open the door for me to minister in that Portuguese-speaking nation." The Instituto Superior de Teologia Evangélica de Moçambique (Superior Institute of Evangelical Theology of Mozambique) is a new theological presence in Maputo to train pastors and seminary professors to educate the growing number of Church leaders in that nation. Ehud taught a course titled "Biblical Theology of Holistic Mission," a course that launched the tone for the entire program: the Church is called to serve the whole person by being a Missionary Church. The Evangelical Church has been growing steadily in Mozambique and in the surrounding countries. "I had the opportunity of meeting precious brothers and sisters," he adds. "The students were very excited with this new program and I believe it will make such an impact in the country." Please continue to pray for the program and for the twenty-four new students; for their families, their ministries, and their success in the many projects they will be working on.
