DIA is involved in equipping the Church of Jesus Christ in three main areas: Mission Theology, Intercultural Studies, and Church-based Community Ministries. Its emphasis is on short programs that will enable the people of God to minister in the world in several capacities. DIA offers several options of ministry to the Christian Church: weekend seminars on Mission and Bible Exposition, distance education courses both in hardcopy and electronically; it is prepared to assist interested students with tailored courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.

In its new phase of implementation, DIA is expanding its focus of ministry to churches outside the United States. Along with its ministry in mission related research, literature and intercultural training, DIA is also involved in serving Brazilian and Russian churches by offering continuing education options to pastors and seminary students, providing pastoral and theological education through seminars, conferences, and literature in Portuguese. All related literature in Russian is slowly becoming available.
